they are blankets woven so we can see

the slight curve of
a crescent moon between
wisps of cotton stuck beneath
crooked fingernails;
now, the hem of her skirt
is the only shadow
in sight.
catch the sunlight, catch the sunlight
and wedding gowns will become
kisses that fall from the terraces
of skyscrapers
