Dancing

Dance is sweeping the air into life, learning that you can move, that you can fly; that you have every right to live and put your inhibitions behind you.

Earlier, I got word that Beth, an extremely talented writer, as well as someone I do look up to, was hosting a little competition over at her blog, inviting visitors to define dance. While I'm shy when it comes to dancing in front of anybody--anybody-- other than myself, I do love to dance. A very, very long time ago, I even did take ballet lessons with all the other little girls on the bars, and I dance on the treadmill when I'm sure nobody is watching. It does make me feel free, if you will. So when I got word of Beth's competition, I took a moment to define dance.

And, oh, were there so many wonderful definitions out there. They were all so true.

Today though, I did get word that my definition was chosen as one of the four winners of the competition. The news did elicit a smile out of me. And just this morning, Beth complimented my writing, which made me smile too. These little things, they make me smile because they layer my persistence just a little more, make me dance, make me want to say thank you a hundred times to anyone who has even thought of stopping by here. Thank you, thank you, thank you... all of you are the reason that I do not give up.

And thank you, Beth. You are one of the reasons I never stop writing.

(...which all, on a side note, means that I receive a paperback copy of Beth's novel House of Dance. I have no doubt it will be amazing.)
